Directors of the Kaneland Youth Orchestra



Ms. Daryl Silberman is an orchestra director at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL, District 204 and is also newly directing the Chamber Ensemble and Apollo Strings groups for the Kaneland Youth Orchestra. “Ms. S” studied viola at the University of Colorado at Boulder, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and University of Southern California. She has been a private studio teacher, high school orchestra director, and freelance violist and violinist in Salem, Oregon, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area performing with regional orchestras, rock bands, movie studio orchestras, chamber groups, and baroque ensembles. Currently, Daryl collaborates with husband Danny Seidenberg in their baroque violin duo DuettoDS2 and is the violinist of the Krizalido Piano Trio whose mission is to “create healing and community through the presence of music and collaboration”. She has served as a guest conductor and clinician for middle and high school orchestras all around the country and has presented at many national and state educator conferences. She was named as one of “50 Directors Who Make a Difference” in 2011 by School Band and Orchestra magazine. In her free time, she is an avid yogi and busy mom of two young adults.

Mrs. Cathy Kovach is currently the concertmaster for the Fermi Community Orchestra and a member of the Fox Valley Orchestra as a violinist. Among her many jobs in the community, she teaches violin lessons for a number of Kaneland students. She has dedicated many selfless hours in bringing string education to the Kaneland area while fully supporting the choir, band and theater programs in Kaneland that her boys have enjoyed through the years. Mrs. Kovach teaches our chamber ensemble with Mrs. Silberman.

Mrs. Christina Murri is a violinist who is passionate about teaching children, especially beginning music students, our prep strings musicians. It is important to her to help young musicians develop not only a love for music and for their instrument, but for them to build on a solid foundation of fundamental skills that will help them become confident, joyful musicians.
